Hi everyone,

In a beautiful autumn evening, family and friends gathered in a field behind my parents’ house (in the north of Israel) for the wedding ceremony of my sister – Osnat - and the man of her choice - Doron. People began to arrive just before sunset, and the ceremony itself was held a couple of hours later, followed by excellent food and alcohol and by a lot of dancing till 3 in the morning. It was fabulous!

最近、蒸し暑くなってきましたね・・・・でも、夏が大好きな私には、本当に嬉しいです

Hello all! I’ve been doing a lot of traveling recently—so let me tell you all about it! 

 At the beginning of May, my friend from Kentucky, U.S.A. came to Japan to visit me. We went to Tokyo together for three days. It was great! We visited Asakusa, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara, Ginza, and Tsukiji—basically everywhere! 

We went during Golden Week, so it was very crowded. I was amazed to see so many people in Harajuku! But that’s Tokyo, right?! Can you find me in the picture below? 

Hint: I’m wearing a blue shirt!

A lot of Japanese think western weddings are held in churches, and it’s often true, but not always.

 My brother had his wedding in the backyard of Chateau Ramesay, an old castle in Montreal, Canada.

My name is Robert Sanzalone. I come from Vancouver, Canada. I came to Japan for the first time many years ago and lived in Tokyo for a year. I then moved back to Canada but came back to Nagoya to live with my wife last year. I like Japan very much. I have visited Hokkaido, climbed Mount Fuji and have gone swimming in Okinawa. I have also travelled to Korea, Europe, Canada and the United States. My hobbies include playing on the computer (which I do A LOT), bicycling and kayaking. I like easy listening music, both in English and in Japanese. My favorite movies are musicals but I enjoy other kinds of movies as well. I love food from all over the world including Japanese. My mother is Italian so I grew up eating spaghetti and a lot of other Italian food. I also enjoy watching ice hockey (like all Canadians!) and baseball. Many times I have driven my car to Seattle to watch Ichiro Suzuki play baseball for the Seattle Mariners. He is my favorite baseball player. My plans in the future are to visit Kyoto, Nagasaki and other parts of Japan. I really enjoy travelling and meeting new people!

Hello. I am Marie. I was born in Japan, and am Japanese.

I learnt my English in Sydney, Australia where I lived for 8 years and I have recently moved back to Japan.

After living overseas I have become more aware of who I am and what Japanese culture is about. Experiencing a different culture is one of the great ways to broaden your views on things and expand your knowledge. It even helps you find your untapped talents. I recommend that you experience it as well, through traveling and/or living abroad (if possible)!

Learning languages takes a long time. Along the way, we sometimes lose our purposes, but we also encounter nice companions who inspire and motivate us. We may be at different stages, but with a purpose and perseverance, we can all achieve our English goals!

Hello, my name is Louise. I am from 　Australia and Canada. My Dad

is　Canadian,and my Mom is Australian. I have lived in Nagoya for one year, I have

 also livedin Okazaki, and Niigata. I love winter here, but summer in Nagoya is

much toohumid for me.  I love Japanese food and Japanese design. There are

many　places in Japan that I want to see more of, such as Tokyo and Kyoto. I

also　want to go to Okinawa (I love Okinawan music), and I also want to go

Greetings and hello,This is your friendly L-One teacher, Bree.  It is an honor to be read by so many of you (there ARE many of you, right?).   For those of you who don’t know me, allow me to say a few things about myself.I am from Arizona state in the Southwestern U.S. It's a great place to be in the Spring, Fall, or Winter, but only crazy people and my parents (maybe they are one and the same) would choose to live there in the summer.   It gets up to 50 degrees celsius, and that’s hot enough to fry eggs on the sidewalk (or your feet, if you`re not careful).   I’m sure you’re all familiar with the Grand Canyon, which is located on the border of Arizona and Utah states, right in the middle of the Rocky Mountains.  I have been in Japan for 5 years and if there`s one thing I have learned, it’s that I still don’t know very much about Japan.  I just know that Yakiniku is good, Yakuza are bad, and Japanese comedy shows are insane. I know that a lot of you are new to the English school experience and are doing your best to learn English.  I have thought about how to be an effective student for years and would like to give you all a few pointers for getting the most out of your time at L-One:    First, you’re not going to understand much from a natural conversation at first so you need to ask questions. If you don’t ask questions, you may be forever confused. As the ancient Chinese proverb goes: “He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.”Second, you need to try to speak as much as possible. Don’t worry about anyone else in the class but yourself. This is your time, this is your money, and you should try to get as much out of each class as possible.  By speaking more, you train your language skills and they get stronger. It’s like running if you’re a runner, shooting free-throws if you’re a basketball player, swimming laps if you’re a swimmer. Very quiet people rarely become good speakers of a foreign language, especially if those languages are as different as English and Japanese are. I know you have lots of ideas in your head, so let’s hear them!Third, you need to increase your vocabulary. Unless you are Robert Frost or some other famous poet, you probably don’t have a very good vocabulary (that’s ok, many native speakers don’t either!). The best way to improve your vocabulary is to take an interest in words! Pay attention to new words when you see or hear them, and don’t ignore them! If you hear a new word, write it down! There are only two ways people remember new words:①They hear it or read it many, many, many times. ②They learn the word in an emotionally charged situation, for example, in an embarrassing situation, or when they are angry, or when they are very happy, or sad, etc. But remember, learning just the word itself is not enough – learning how to use the word in a sentence is the key. Never learn new words in isolation. That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and remember that everything worth anything requires hard work.
